CBC (Complete Blood Count)  -  A blood test that gives information about all the different blood cells in the body. A major portion of the complete blood count is the measure of the concentration of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets in the blood.

CMP (Complete Metabolic Panel)  -  A broad screening tool to evaluate organ function and check for certain conditions such as diabetes, liver disease and kidney disease, these are just a few disease processes that are looked at in the CMP.

Lipid Panel  -  A screening tool that tests to see the different levels and type of cholesterol in your body. Refer to the Cholesterol page for more information on lipids.

HbA1c (Hemoglobin A1c)  -  To explain what an A1c is, think in simple terms. Sugar sticks, and when it's around for a long time, it's harder to get it off. In the body, sugar sticks too, particularly to proteins. The red blood cells that circulate in the body live for about three months before they die. When sugar sticks to these cells, it gives us an idea of how much sugar has been around for the preceding three months. See the Diabetes page for more information on Diabetes.

TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)  -  The thyroid gland sits in the anterior portion of the neck. It is the gland that secretes thyroid hormone which is secreted into the blood and helps regulate the body. It is tested to find out whether the thyroid gland is working properly or to keep track of treatment with thyroid replacement medicine for people who have hypothyroidism.

PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen)  -  An enzyme produced by the prostate cells. PSA levels can be used to tell if you have prostate related disease.

UA (Urine Analysis)  -  An analysis of the urine that looks at the color, odor, density and PH of the urine and other things such as protein, blood cells and sugar.
